Away from Civilization, we will cover a section of the Bolivian Andes called The Royal Range. We will be in an area where tourist are rarely seen.  To ensure the success of the expedition and for acclimatizing purposes, we will start with an Urban Trek in La Paz; hike Sun Island on Lake Titicaca with amazing landscape. 2 beautiful days to get acclimatised and go for the big challenge. Are you ready for STUNNING LANDSCAPES? After 7 days of trekking, we will go Ice Climbing to the beautiful Sajama National Park to make the tops of the three lords of the altitude (including the highest peak in Bolivia, Sajama)

Our Local guides will ensure your safety and provide cultural and environmental information, because  they know very well the area they work in.

Previous day. –

Optional to meet the other participants in the group. However if your time doesn’t allow  you, you can also show up right on Day 1, day of start of your tour.

It is a day for you to get to La Paz in a relaxed way and be close to us.  On this day, you will check in at the hostel/hotel provided by SAEX to spend the night. On this day, you will finalise payment If you haven’t paid it all, you will get to know your Tour Leader that will explain the group about the tour and will give all the last recommendations needed.

 

Day 1.-

Route: ACCLIMATISING URBAN TREK LA PAZ (Bolivia).

Highlights: Streets of La Paz (Wonder City)

We have designed this Urban Trek for you to see most of La Paz and at the same time get used to the altitude. This Trek will begin 2 hours before lunch and finish 2 hours after. In the unlikely event you can’t cope with altitude we will stop the trek at lunch.

Accommodation in La Paz.

Day 2.-

Route: LA PAZ – LAKE TITICACA (Bolivia).

Highlights: Lake Titicaca- Sun Island

After breakfast, we will drive towards Lake Titicaca. Once in Copacabana we will get on a boat to Sun Island and after checking in will go visit the Inca Stairs, the fountain of the Youth and the Temple of the Sun.

Day 3.-

Route: SUN ISLAND TREK SOUTH TO NORTH – LA PAZ (Bolivia)

Highlights: Pre Inca Pavement- Inca Laberynth-Creation rock

We are going to have a 3-4 hour trek from the South of the Island to the extreme North, it offers stunning views of the lake and surrounding landscapes. At the end of the Trek you will be able to see the Inca Laberynth and the Creation Rock. We will continue on boat and to La Paz, on the way we will stop in Huatajata where we will meet the World famous Reed Boat Builders, responsible for building ships that crossed the oceans of the World.

You will have a free afternoon in La Paz

Day 4.–

Route: LOS ANDES TREK 1st day La Paz Totora Pata (Bolivia)

Highlights: Royal Range

Our car will pick us up just after breakfast. We will drive for about 1.5 hrs in order to get to la Cumbre. By then our pack animals will be waiting ready to be loaded. Once the pack animals are loaded, we will start our crossing. One pass 4.000 m will be our challenge. On this day we will walk for 3-4 hrs

Day 5.–

Route: LOS ANDES TREK 2nd day Totora Pata – Serkhe (Bolivia)

Highlights: Royal Range

Our main goal on this day is to get to Palcoma at the base of Serkhe Mountain. On this day we will walk 6 hrs and will have a pass of 4300 m.

Day 6.-

Route: LOS ANDES TREK 3rd day Serkhe-Mururata (Bolivia)

Highlights: Royal Range 

We will head to Mururata Mountain, we will camp at its base and will have a pass of 4.200 m. We will walk 6 hours

Day 07.–

Route: LOS ANDES TREK 4th day Mururata – Pakoani – La Paz (Bolivia)

Highlights: Royal Range

From Mururata Mountain, we will walk towards La Cumbre de Pakoani.  Then our car will take us to La Paz to arrive at the hotel around 17:00. We will walk 4 hours.

Day 8.-

Route: TRAINING DAY (Bolivia)

Highlights: Ice Climbing training

We will go to a snow caped mountain near La Paz where you will get the right training in Ice Climbing, different walls for a really exciting day, we will come back to La Paz at the end of the afternoon.

Day 9-10.–

Route: CLIMBING 1ST & 2ND DAY PARINACOTA MOUNTAIN 6348 (Bolivia)

Highlights: Ice Cllimbing on Western Bolivian Andes

Our car will pick us up just after breakfast. We will drive for about 3.5 hrs in order to get to the base of Parinacota Mountain, a perfect shaped Mountain in Sajama National Park. By then our pack animals will be waiting ready to be loaded. Once the pack animals are loaded, we will start our ascent walking up to high camp. Once at high camp we will just relax until it is time to go to our first summit of 6000+ m In fact Pomerape is 6348 (20.826 feet)

We will start at midnight and reach the summit early in the morning, after a couple of pictures; we will walk down straight to the base and continue to Sajama Village.

Day 11.–

Route: REST SAJAMA VILLAGE (Bolivia)

Highlights: Hot springs 

On this day, in order to recover from our first six thousand we will just relax visiting some interesting places, we will visit a couple of High Mountain lagoons and in the afternoon will relax by the Thermal waters of Sajama.

Day 12 -13.–

Route: CLIMBING 3rd & 4th DAY POMERAPE MOUNTAIN 6282m (20.610 ft) (Bolivia)

Highlights: Ice Climbing on Western Bolivian Andes

After breakfast our car will take us to the base of Pomerape, another perfect shaped mountain which is next to Parinacota (our first 6000 + ). We will relax for the day until it is time to climb up. Same as the previous mountain we will start around midnight, get to the top early in the morning. Then it is all the way down to the base of the mountain and go to Sajama.

Day 14 -15.–

Route: CLIMBING 5th & 6th day SAJAMA MOUNTAIN 6542m – LA PAZ (21.463ft) (Bolivia)

Highlights: Ice Climbing on Western Bolivian Andes 

After breakfast our car will take us to the base of Sajama We will relax for the day until it is time to climb up. Unbelievably we will climb today the highest mountain of Bolivia, we have chosen theses 6.000s because technically are not that difficult. At midnight, we will wake you up to go to the top of the highest mountain in Bolivia. Early in the morning, we will be at the top. This time we will go down to the hotel have lunch and go straight to La Paz.

Day 16.–

Route: LA PAZ (Bolivia)

Highlights: City Tour La Paz, teleféricos

On this day, we will enjoy a perfect and complete City tour. You will be able to experience the Teleféricos system as well. You can also choose just to have a free day where your Tour Leader can show you all of what you have missed on before and give you the right advice to buy souvenirs or just visit another special place in La Paz.

This is a list that we have prepared based on experience, there are some things that may not be useful for you according to your dressing style or traveling style, read the list carefully and decide what you will bring.

Some items of the list may not be necessary for your trip or on the other hand, you may need something else. Ask our travel consultant to send you a detailed “packing list” specially for your trip.

 

  1. Day pack 35 lt.

Essential for keeping little things during the day. Your snacks, bottle of water, etc.

 

  1. Wide brim hat or cap.

You will have many hours under the sun. Hat or cap are good to avoid sunstroke

 

  1. Comfortable travelling clothes.

Light and easy to wash. 2 sets at least will cover your needs.

 

  1. 1 set of casual clothes for that night out.

There will be some chances to go out at night.

 

  1. Shorts

Very useful to be comfortable at the hotel.

 

  1. Sun glasses

You will have many hours in the sun.

 

  1. Warm sweater

Always have a warm sweater in hand, early in the morning and late in the afternoon can be chilly

 

  1. Fleece

Nights in the altitude are cold even in summer.

 

  1. Waterproof/windproof Jacket with hood

Summers can be rainy and in winter if it is windy, it gets cold.

 

  1. Hiking boots

You will need them for those programmes on which hiking is involved.

 

  1. Tennis shoes

You will need them to walk comfortable, for example during City Tours.

 

  1. Sandals – flip flops

Essential for when you get a shower or stay comfortable in the hotel.

 

  1. Head torch/head lamp & spare batteries

This is very useful if your tour involves staying in the countryside.

 

  1. Swimming stuff

Bring swimming suit if your programme includes immersing in hot springs or something like that.

 

  1. 5 pairs of Socks

While you use one or two, you can have the other pairs washed.

 

  1. Underwear

4 pieces will do for your trip.

 

  1. Camera with 1 spare battery

If you use camera with battery please bring a spare battery, as some batteries are hard to find.

 

  1. Mobile with power bank.

If you use your mobile for photos during your trips, make sure you bring a portable charger or power bank.

 

  1. Toiletries kit.

Make sure you bring your especial toiletries. Toiletries in South America can be totally different.

 

  1. Wet tissues.

Access to running water can be difficult, wet tissues are very useful for when you are in a car or away from the hotel.

 

  1. Small mirror.

Some toilets just do not have mirrors.

 

  1. Small towels.

Have a small towel in hand as toilets may not have hand dryers.

 

  1. Note book.

If you like to take notes, bring it from home.

 

  1. Water bottle.

You will need to drink at least 2 lt per day.

 

  1. Alarm clock.

If you use your mobile for alarm, please adjust it to the local time.

 

  1. Money belt.

Very important to have your money and documents safe while on the streets or travelling.

 

  1. Writing stuff.

You will always need a pen at some point.

 

  1. Passport Colour photocopies.

Leave your passport at the hotel unless your guide asks you to bring it.

 

  1. Mosquito repellent for Machu Picchu.

If your trip includes Machu Picchu or the Amazon please bring mosquito repellent, At least DEET 35%.

 

  1. Toilet paper.

During car trips or in the countryside have always one roll with you.

 

  1. Virucidal alcohol hand gel.

For hygienic disinfection of hands
